University of Georgia Debate Website Launched

We designed a new front end and a suite of content management tools designed especially for debate teams at both the college and high school levels. The first version of this Debate Spool to be launched is for the Georgia Debate Union, the competitive intercollegiate policy debate team at the University of Georgia.

Bilingual Version of Finca La Bella Site Launched

We recently received a Spanish translation for our Finca La Bella project. Finca La Bella is a collective of organic farms in the Monteverde region of Costa Rica. Finca La Bella has a relationship with UGA Costa Rica and the Fanning Institute at the University of Georgia, which is how they found us. This is our first bilingual site, including meta tags, text, and (eventually) navigation items.

Mad About Town Podcast Goes Live

Mad About Town is a podcast about Athens, Georgia musicians. Each episode features a different musician interview, and each musician plays records by their major influences. Boxkite Media designed a podcasting and blogging platform, along with the permission system that supports multiple site editors.

Boxkite Develops Web Presence for Finca La Bella, Organic Farm and Ecotourism Destination

Finca La Bella, a collective of organic farms in the Monteverde region of Costa Rica, need a web presence to advertise their produce and ecotourism packages. They grow their own coffee, and make their own packaging from recycled materials mixed with plant material from the coffee growing process. We designed an organic look for the site, as if it were constructed of the farms' produce.

Durfee Design Meets World

This week we launched Durfee Design, the design companion to Lisa Durfee's art portfolio site. The content management system allows her to maintain her portfolio without maintenance fees. Her daughter, Kathryn Durfee, is responsible for the elegant design.

Eikon Productions Gets A Makeover

Eikon Productions, a video production studio in Athens, asked us to write some custom content management software for their new site. Their clients can now login and see proofs of ongoing work, video portfolios, and the guys at Eikon have management and blogging capabilities that give them control over their website. The sweet new design is by Andrew over at Signal 7.

Boxkite launches Full Circle Real Estate Group site

Full Circle Real Estate Group is an Athens-based brokerage that concentrates on sales and leasing of sustainable or green properties. They're using Boxkite Media's Real Estate Spool, including a new mailing list manager that pulls property information directly from the database and creates HTML e-mails automatically.

The JANUS Research Group is a tech company located in Augusta that specializes in simulation and modeling. The build interactive systems that allow people to map large amounts of terrain data, as well as working with training programs.

Redesign of the Chronicle Network Goes Live

One of our favorite projects has always been the Chronicle Network of news sites. Built from scratch four years ago, we've been working with the site's owner ever since then to continually improve upon the site.

The Draking Point Launches

The Draking Point is a publication featuring conservative cartoons and blog content. We built the content management system to allow the authors to upload their own cartoons and video, as well as create and edit the blog entries. The site features a nested comment system with user registration, and an administration queue allowing comment regulation and deletion. The site also features e-mail list management so authors can stay in touch with their regular readers.

Lisa Durfee Art Is Launched

Lisa Durfee Art is an artist's portfolio site. We created a simple, elegant design that did not distract from the quality of the painting. We developed a custom version of the Spool, our content management system, that includes a gallery manager with nested comments, and approval system for comments to combat spam and the occasional lack of civility, and a full featured blogging system.

Aylesbury Commons is a patio home community in Augusta. The site uses Boxkite Media's Real Estate Spool to manage the sales and advertising of available properties in the development.

Starr Crawford/ Re/Max Masters Launches

Starr Crawford/ Re/Max Masters is the first use of Boxkite Media's custom Real Estate Spool. The backend allows Starr Crawford to manage her real estate listings without having to pay for maintenance or technical support. She finally has total control over her website.

Athens Soundies Meets World

Athens Soundies is a site devoted to DIY music videos from musicians in our fair city. The design was done by Andrew Parker over at Signal 7, and Boxkite Media coded the content management system that allows new videos to be added, organized, and viewed by people who love music. Athens-Clarke County Stormwater Department Media Room and Mapping System Launched Today

The Athens-Clarke County Stormwater Department needed a mapping system to track incidents of dumping and flooding, as well as stream quality data. They also needed an interactive way for people to learn about watersheds, runoff, water pollution. We built a system that allows citizens to report dumping and flooding directly on the map. We also built a media room, including audio and video podcasting, an events calendar, a news blog, photo galleries, and a very cool Turtle Girl (designed by Leslie Dallion).

The Fanning Institute's New Site Is Live

The Fanning Institute is a unit of Public Service and Outreach at the University of Georgia. Our first major University site, the Fanning Institute site is a redevelopment of their web presence from the ground up. Using the Spool, Fanning Institute Faculty and staff now have control over faculty profiles, classes and event registration, conference planning, and project management. It also includes a group blogging system.

For years, Athenians had to watch what they said in public to avoid ending up on Overheard in Athens. Now, you have to worry about how you look. Overseen in Athens allows user to submit photos from around Athens. We're betting that they won't be architectural shots.

Athens PopFest 2008 Site Goes Live

After much planning, scheming, and coding, the Athens PopFest 2008 website is live to the world. Now in its fifth year, the Athens PopFest has proven to be both a facilitator of and catalyst for a renewed international community spirit among discerning rock and pop fans. Boxkite Media, through its outlets Athens Exchange and Overheard in Athens, has been a sponsor of the festival for four years. This year we built them a shiny new website, including a version of the Spool designed to manage information for the festival including calendars, band profiles, mailing lists, ticket sales, and discussion forums. This doesn't make us rock stars, but it sure does feel like it. After all, we're with the band.
