Web Design

The goal of website design is to communicate a message, whether that message is a new product listing, a new idea, or a new project. We design brand images that leave a lasting impression on customers, members, and readers. Every project includes dozens of small contingencies, design decisions that determine the aesthetic quality and usability of the finished product. When we make design decisions, we are guided by the following principles:

  • Good design should assist communication and message exchange
  • Good design should proceed from problem to solution
  • Good design should blend the traditional with the innovative
  • Good design is as accessible as possible

Boxkite Media has launched the official website for The Amazon Continuum, an Amazon River-based research project led by Dr. Patricia Yager of UGA's Marine Sciences Department. We designed The Amazon Continuum Project to support our content management system which enables researchers to blog about their experience and upload video podcasts from the research ship. We also custom-built our CMS to serve as a secure platform for Dr. Yager and colleagues to privately communicate and transfer files.

Athens-Clarke County Stormwater Department

The Athens-Clarke County Stormwater Department needed a mapping system to track incidents of dumping and flooding, as well as stream quality data. They also needed an interactive way for people to learn about watersheds, runoff, water pollution. We built a system that allows citizens to report dumping and flooding directly on the map. We also built a media room, including audio and video podcasting, an events calendar, a news blog, photo galleries, and a very cool Turtle Girl (designed by Leslie Dallion).
