3 Tree Realty
3tree Realty is a boutique real estate firm specializing in residential and commercial real estate and property management. Our task for 3tree was to customize our real-estate centric Spool (content management system), which provides mapping functionality that dynamically generates maps of properties, neighborhoods, and points of interest. The CMS also supports property listing, file, and newsletter management, along with blogging, resource category creation, and contact form routing.
Amazon Continuum
Boxkite Media has launched the official website for The Amazon Continuum, an Amazon River-based research project led by Dr. Patricia Yager of UGA's Marine Sciences Department. We designed The Amazon Continuum Project to support our content management system which enables researchers to blog about their experience and upload video podcasts from the research ship. We also custom-built our CMS to serve as a secure platform for Dr. Yager and colleagues to privately communicate and transfer files.
Antarctic Aspire
Antarctic Aspire is a research study focusing on understanding the climate-sensitive dynamics of the open water region, known as a "polynya." Working with the same research team as Amazon Continuum and Arctic Nitro, Boxkite designed a website so researchers could inform the public and the scientific community about current research. Aspire uses our CMS to manipulate content, create pages, blog, and easily upload pictures and videos.
Arctic Nitro
Arctic Nitrogen is a research study focusing on the climate-sensitive relationship between Arctic microbes and the productivity of the food web that depends on these organisms. Boxkite's mission was to design and build a website so that the research team could not only communicate with the public, but also with one another. The Arctic Nitro site supports the Boxkite Spool, which facilitates blogging, page creation, resource management, and contact routing.
Area Zip
Area Zip is a handy utility for quickly finding information about Area Codes and Zip Codes. Simply input an Area Code or a Zip Code and AreaZip will tell you what city, state, and time zone the result is in. You can also reveal the location in an embedded Google Map.
Athens Soundies
Athens Soundies is a site devoted to DIY music videos from musicians in our fair city. The design was done by Andrew Parker over at Signal 7, and Boxkite Media coded the content management system that allows new videos to be added, organized, and viewed by people who love music.
Athens-Clarke County Stormwater Department
The Athens-Clarke County Stormwater Department needed a mapping system to track incidents of dumping and flooding, as well as stream quality data. They also needed an interactive way for people to learn about watersheds, runoff, water pollution. We built a system that allows citizens to report dumping and flooding directly on the map. We also built a media room, including audio and video podcasting, an events calendar, a news blog, photo galleries, and a very cool Turtle Girl (designed by Leslie Dallion).
Aylesbury Commons
Aylesbury Commons is a patio home community in Augusta. The site uses Boxkite Media's Real Estate Spool to manage the sales and advertising of available properties in the development.
Chronicle Network
The Chronicle Network is actually a network of news sites serving a large part of the country. They receive more than 30,000 visitors a day. We designed the entire content and user management system from the ground up. The CMS allows the editor to manage articles submitted by over 1,000 authors. The site contains nearly 150,000 articles spread over an enormous number of categories. All management takes place in the backend of the site and is managed by a single person, part-time.
Combat Focus Shooting
Boxkite Media has teamed up with I.C.E. (Integrity. Consistency. Efficiency.) Training to develop a one-of-a-kind, combat-focused iPhone application, appropriately titled Combat Focus Shooting.
Combat Focus Shooting Website
Combat Focus Shooting is an intuitive shooting program to work with the body's natural reactions during a critical incident. For CFS, we crafted a usable Web design, and custom-built a content management system (CMS). The e-commerce system, a feature of the CMS, allows CFS to add/edit products and product content, track inventory, and associate attributes and categories to products. CFS also uses the management system to schedule classes, update instructors, and blog. The CMS allows Combat Focus to distribute and archive listserv emails, and to create pages at will.
Dallas Urban Debate Alliance
The Dallas Urban Debate Alliance operates in a dozen Dallas ISD high schools, making competitive academic debate an option for more than 10,000 Dallas high school students. Our duty was to design a clean and informative Web presence for DUDA, and to build a debate-centered content management system to support day-to-day operations. The CMS allows DUDA to blog, create pages, manage newsletters, add/edit calendar events, and to upload and categorize debate resources.
Eikon Productions
Eikon Productions is a video and audio production firm located in Athens, GA. Starting from a design by Signal 7, Boxkite coded up the front end and deployed a custom version of the Spool that allows Eikon to manage their video portfolio, and area where clients can login and see proofs and progress, and their blog.
Finca La Bella
Finca La Bella, a collective of organic farms in the Monteverde region of Costa Rica, need a web presence to advertise their produce and ecotourism packages. They grow their own coffee, and make their own packaging from recycled materials mixed with plant material from the coffee growing process. We designed an organic look for the site, as if it were constructed of the farms' produce.
Full Circle Real Estate Group
Full Circle Real Estate Group is an Athens-based brokerage that concentrates on sales and leasing of sustainable or green properties. We recently redesigned the Full Circle website and connected it to our Real Estate Spool (content management system) that allows FullCircle to manage mailing lists, add/edit properties, update staff profiles, blog, and add/edit resources.
Georgia Debate Union
We designed a new suite of content management tools designed especially for debate teams at both the college and high school levels. The first version of this Debate Spool to be launched is for the Georgia Debate Union, the competitive intercollegiate policy debate team at the University of Georgia. The Debate Spool includes management for team members and coaches, press and alumni relations, tournament schedules, and a full featured blogging system.
Harvard Debate Institutes
The Harvard Debate Institutes's web application supports its need for a public debate forum, online file storage, easy class/lab setup, the capability to receive payment from students. To power Harvard’s debate needs, we customized our debate-centric, Debate Spool to support payment management, news/blogging capability, staff administration, and the ability to easily set up and share class materials through video, audio, and text.
JANUS Research Group
The JANUS Research Group is a tech company located in Augusta that specializes in simulation and modeling. The build interactive systems that allow people to map large amounts of terrain data, as well as working with training programs. We built a content management system for them that gives them control over all the images, video, and text content on their site.
Kannastor
Kannastör is a grinder retail store that offers exceptional versatility. Our mission was to craft a clean layout for Kannastör that subtly accentuated products and company information. We also built a fully flexible content management and e-commerce system that tracks Kannastör inventory, and gives Kannastor the ability to upload/edit products, product categories, and product attributes at will. We also helped write and film the demonstrations in the Videos section of Kannastör.
Kathryn Durfee
Kathryn Durfee, an animator and artist working out of Athens, needed a portfolio site to display her work and market herself to potential clients. Using our Spool content management system, she can manage news, portfolio items, and profile pages.
Mad About Town
Mad About Town is a podcast about Athens, Georgia musicians. Each episode features a different musician interview, and each musician plays records by their major influences. Boxkite Media designed a podcasting and blogging platform, along with the permission system that supports multiple site editors.
National Debate Coaches Association
The National Debate Coaches' ultimate vision is to provide opportunities for high school coaches to strengthen their abilities in order to provide stronger learning environments for their students. For NDCA, we installed our easy-to-use content management system to control blogging, tournament scheduling, instant page creation, newsletter management, and coaching and teaching resources category creation and file uploading.
Overheard in Athens
You never know who might be listening. Combining social content, geographical communities, and user input features like voting, submission, and ranking, Overheard in Athens has become a local favorite for students at the University of Georgia.
Overseen In Athens
Overseen in Athens is a site that blends community contribution with humor, reader commentary, and geographical location. Users submit photos, suggest captions, and comment on photos. Boxkite Media wrote the software that manages submission, commenting, and tagging, as well as user accounts.
Planet Debate
Planet Debate is a content-driven website aimed at high school debaters. Our task was to redesign the look and the content management system from the ground up. Planet Debate has nearly 30,000 users who have subscription-based access to 3,000 research files, 12,000 research links, and more than 80,000 evidence cards. We added in video and audio lectures, mailing list management, and a streamlined e-commerce system that handles file purchases and subscriptions. The front end has a new design, and upgraded account management and search features.
RiverWay South
RiverWay South is works with communities within the Apalachicola, Chattahoochee, and Flint watershed to preserve the environment while increasing the economic vitality of the region. The website features photos, info, and self-guided brochure, video, and audio tours from a variety of sources. The main feature of the site is an interactive map of the river. Important locations along the river, including everything from state parks to bait shops, are identified. New locations are submitted by users and are added to the map when approved by RiverWay South.
RYOT
RYOT.com designs unique, functional and stylish tobacco accessories that are geared towards modern times. Remember the modern stylings of RYOT products, we designed a contemporary Web presence for RYOT. Along with the design, we custom-built a content management and e-commerce system tailored exclusively for the daily business needs of RYOT,com. The system allows RYOT staff to add/edit products, product images, descriptions, categories, attributes, as well as track inventory. We also wrote and produced demo videos found on the home page.
Spark 420
Spark420 is a "green rush" focused retailer whose designs are made in the USA. Boxkite designed a web presence to cleanly showcase products and to organize product information. We also fully customized a content management and e-commerce system for Spark. The e-commerce system is a feature of the CMS, and it allows Spark to update products defined by product categories and attributes. Spark also uses the CMS to blog, manage newsletters, and route contact information.
STAR-LITE For The National Institutes of Health
STAR-LITE is a realistic training environment that teaches students about laboratory safety. Developed by the National Institutes of Health with Janus Research, STAR-LITE is a training simulation with the look, feel, and flexibility of a modern video game. We developed the website that delivers the training application, manages support requests and comments, and manages companion material for the educational institutions that use STAR-LITE.
The Draking Point
The Draking Point is a conservative political blog run by Drake Dunaway. Designed by Drake's brother, Kyle Dunaway, the Draking Point features editorial cartoons, animation, and audio content in English and Spanish. The Spool Podcasting and Blogging platforms are used to manage content, RSS feeds, and the mailing list.
The Pearl Girls
The Pearl Girls are pearl buyers that sell through their own network of sales representatives. They needed an e-commerce site that could handle commissions for their various salespeople, profiles for salespeople, and wanted content management so they could control their site. With a design by Old Guard Graphics, The Pearl Girls is a good example of the impact a well-developed e-commerce site can have on a small business.
The Woodlands - Mobile Site
The Woodlands is an apartment managment company with college-focused apartments across the USA. For The Woodlands, we designed a mobile version of the current website. The mobile version is accessible through most mobile devices including iPhone, Blackberry, and Android. The mobile site gives users the ability to browse the intuitively, and recognizes each type of device that accesses the site for a more user-friendly browing experience.
UGA - Department of Communication Studies
The UGA Communication Studies Department provides students with the knowledge to understand and the skills to enrich human interaction. Boxkite's mission was to clearly communicate to undergraduate and graduate student and faculty information about the department. In doing so, we designed a clean layout, organized content, and custom-built a content management system. The CMS supports page creation, content editing, blogging, FAQ management, contact form routing, file and photo gallery uploads, and profile updating/editing.
UGA At Oxford
The UGA at Oxford Program has been in existence for nearly twenty years. One of the most successful programs on campus, the program is a big reason that the University of Georgia has risen to rank in the top five in the nation for University student participation in study abroad programs. They offer over 90 different courses in a wide variety of majors and subjects. The design of the site is by Old Guard Graphics and we did the javascript work, created the pagewrapper, and implemented the database.
UGA Graduate Student Association
The Graduate Student Association of the University of Georgia needed a website that helped them communicate with their constituency. We used a simple, elegant design that allowed for easy content management. The GSA is able to manage every part of their website, form blogging to posting videos to editing the leadership pages through the Spool, and the system is easy enough that new people can learn to update it every year as their leadership changes.
